Franchise Tags:
Each team is entitled to one active franchise tag. A player can be tagged for one season at a time, but may be tagged up to two times before automatically hitting free agency. Franchise tag values are determined by averaging the five highest contracts at each position. A player cannot have an active contract in order to be eligible for the tag.
Contract Extensions:
Each team is entitled to unlimited contract extensions. Extensions are based on actual NFL extensions so not every player is eligible. A player must have been extended in real life or re-signed prior to the start of Blitz free agency in order to be eligible. If a team wishes to extend a player, it must assume all of the extension (in green on the master). However, any years listed after "POTENTIAL OUT" on Spotrac will be treated as a one-time team option (in maroon on the master). Once an extension is accepted, it cannot be altered (even if his real contract is re-worked). The salary is the base salary for that player, as listed by Spotrac.

If a player is not active for a single game during the course of a season, his contract may be tolled. This must be posted under the extensions tab during the following offseason. A toll would revert the contract back to what it was during the previous season.
