Teams that accept a real contract extension also accept Spotrac's "POTENTIAL OUT" line as a contract option. A team can accept it and continue with the contract, or decline it and have the player enter free agency. Accepting or declining is a one-time, all-or-nothing decision; it isn't more than once per new extension nor can it be a partial acceptance. Option years will appear as maroon on the spreadsheet.
