Colin McCarthy 2014: $0.65M
2nd Round 2016 Draft Pick
San Diego Chargers trades:
Zach Mettenberger 2014: $0.40M 2015: $0.60M 2016: $0.80M 2017: $1.00M
Torrey Smith 2014: $0.64M
Ladarius Green 2014: $0.60M 2015: $0.70M
Paul Worrilow 2014: $10.50M 2015: $10.50M 2016: $10.50M 2017: $10.50M 2018: $10.50M
I accept this deal as it does a number of things for me and my team. Firstly, next year I will be in salary cap hell. I won't be able to resign both Cobb and Thomas. I like Cobb better than Thomas and I'll be able to afford Smith and Cobb's extensions. Secondly, I get Ladrius Green who I feel will be a star sooner rather than later. This move also helps me save on cap next year while still be competitive. Thomas for Smith and Green is more than fair to me. Next, Woodyard and McCarthy for Worrilow is also a great deal for us both. I get a younger lb with a slightly larger salary. The Chargers get two really good lbs that I feel will both play and thrive under a Ray Horton lead D. Lastly, a second round 2016 pick is well worth the value I feel I'll be getting with Mettenberger. Also, next year, It may give me the freedom to let Alex Smith go and save another large amount off of my cap. All in all this deal works on multiple levels for us both for a number of years.
