Increase the contract buyout penalty for longer contracts.
1st year: 50% of contract, same as always
2nd year: 60%
3rd year: 75%
4th year: 90%
5th year: 100%
Here's an example: Say Davante Adams gets signed in FA this year to 5 years @ $12 million per year, and he is absolutely terrible and said team drops him and completes a buyout of the contract. The penalty per year is $6.0/$7.2/$9.0/$10.8/$12.0 so the cap penalty would be $45 million vs. $30 million.
A Yes vote would be for the revised contract buyout penalty outlined above.
This change would take effect with the 2018 season. One vote per GM.
