PROPOSITION #7 – Revise Franchise Tag System
The proposition would revise the current Franchise Tag system outlined below with a new Franchise Tag system using the average salary for the top 5 salaries at each position also outlined below.
Current Blitz Franchise Tag System
The first tag is the Franchise title. Players given this tag are signed to an extension by the controlling team based on their performance. See the following scale for values:
Ranked 1-25 --> 17M Annual salary
Ranked 26-50 --> 12M Annual salary
Ranked 51-75 --> 8M Annual salary
Ranked 76-100 --> 4M Annual Salary
Ranked 101-200 --> 2M Annual Salary
Ranked 200-300--> 1M Annual Salary
Ranked 300+--> 0.75M Annual Salary
Franchise Tags may be up to 2 year in length. Each team is allowed 1 Active Franchise Tag at a Time. Franchise tags are confirmed by the League Managers. Franchised Tag may only be used Twice on the same player then he goes directly to Unrestricted Free Agency
Note: Franchise Tags DO NOT transfer over Year-to-Year and NO LONGER QUALIFY FOR CONTRACT EXTENSION!
Revised Franchise Tag System
Teams may Franchise Tag one player with an expiring contract each season. If that player is traded, the team trading the player may not Franchise another player that year. The team receiving the player may still Franchise one player and maintain both Franchised players for that year.
The same player may be tagged a maximum of 2 seasons in a row. Franchise Tags are only good for one year.
Franchise tags are based on the average salary of the 5 highest paid players at their position and will be determined at the end of each season for the following season. A player will be paid either the salary corresponding to their tag, or 110% of their previous salary, whichever is higher.
A Yes vote would revise the Franchise Tag system as outlined above.
This change would take effect with the 2020 season. One vote per GM. See previous comments at: blitzcentral.proboards.com/thread/6818/2019-rule-change-suggestions
