PROPOSITION #3 Move Free Agency bidding to a multiplier/point system
This proposition would replace the current Blitz free agency bidding system outlined below with multiplier/point system also outlined below used by many 32 team leagues
Current Bidding System: BCD Free Agency
Free Agents will be auctioned off, meaning every team has the chance to acquire a free agent. As in an auction, the highest bidder wins. However, to win the auction, your bid must stand the highest for at least 24 hours. The minimum contract length is 1 year. The maximum is 5 years.
Minimum Bid is: $0.4M
If the number of years offered is increased, the maximum percent decrease in annual salary is as follows:
One year: 13%
Two years: 17%
Three years: 23%
Four years: 33%
If the number of years offered is decreased, the minimum percent increase in annual salary is as follows:
One year: 15%
Two years: 20%
Three years: 30%
Four years: 50%
Note- When Adding Years Length of contract Wins in case of Tie in Salary per yr.
Bidding Process
-To sign an UFA, first post the players name, position, AND current team in the designated section along with your bid. This player will now be open to bidding from any owner. Bids are flat annual salary figures, therefore you cannot backload or frontload a salary.
BIDS MUST LOOK LIKE THIS:
TEAM NAME
YEARS OF BID AND CONTRACT LENGTH (BID MUST BE PER YEAR)
There will not be a limit in UNRESTRICTED free agency on how many times a team can place a bid, however, a bid cannot be rescinded. A bid must stand without being challenged for 24 hours before a free agent is won. Bids must up the previous bid by at least $0.1M. INVALID BIDS WILL BE DELETED AND DO NOT COUNT AGAINST THE CLOCK.
Proposed Change: Free Agent Bidding:
The process for signing an Unrestricted Free Agent is to create a new thread in the "Unrestricted Free Agents" sub-board under "Free Agency". The thread should have the player's correctly spelled name, NFL team and position in the subject, and a valid bid as the message. Other GMs may reply in this thread with higher bids for the player. The bidding will end when 24 hours has passed since the last valid bid.
Contract years add value based on the following: $1M = 1 point
1 Year = 1.00X multiplier - 1 Year @ 5 mil = 5 X 1 = 5 pts
2 Year = 1.20X multiplier - 2 Years @ 5 mil = 5 X 1.20 = 6 pts
3 Year = 1.40X multiplier - 3 Years @ 5 mil = 5 X 1.40 = 7 pts
4 Year = 1.60X multiplier - 4 Years @ 5 mil = 5 X 1.6= 8 pts
5 Year = 1.80X multiplier - 5 Years @ 5 mil = 5 X 1.80 = 9 pts
More Examples:
1 Year @ 1 mil = 1 x 1 = 1 point
3 Years @ 1 mil = 1 X 1.4= 1.4 pts
1 Years @ 1.4 mil = 1.4 X 1 = 1.4 pts
3 Years @ 1.3 mil = 1.3 X 1.4 = 2.2pts
1 Year @ 1.8 mil = 1.8 X 1 = 1.8 pts
Players may be signed for a maximum of 5 years and your math must be correct for the bid to be valid.
A YES vote for this proposition would replace the current free agent bidding system with the multiplier/point system for the 2019 season.
This change would go into effect for 2019 Free Agency bidding. Because One vote per GM. See previous comments at: blitzcentral.proboards.com/thread/6818/2019-rule-change-suggestions
