2021 SEASON
MIA Trades
'22 2nd (MIA)/'22 3rd (MIA)
NYG Trades
'21 2.18 (NYG) drafted QB Kyle Trask
'22 4th (NYG)/'22 4th (HOU)
Grade: B+
Initially seemed like an overpayment for QB of the future, needed this pick to acquire Kyler Murray and turned the (HOU) pick into developmental TE Noah Gray KC.
MIA Trades
Todd Gurley $4/$5/$7.45
SEA Trades
TE Cameron Brate $.4
'22 2nd (BUF)
Grade: A
Getting a 2nd Rounder out of Gurley, who never landed on a team, was a victory- as was clearing the cap space without taking a 50% hit
MIA Trades
'22 4th (MIA)
NYJ Trades
'21 4.28 (NYJ) Drafted WR Jalen Camp JAX
Grade: D-
Camp didn't make the roster and signed with the practice squad
MIA Trades
'22 4th (HOU)
CAR Trades
'21 4.25 (CAR) Drafted TE Noah Gray KC
Grade: B
Gray received a lot of hype in camp and has received playing time behind Kelce as a rookie. Good value for the end of the draft
MIA trades
'22 1st (MIA)
QB Kyle Trask TB rookie scale
TBB trades
QB Kyler Murray AZ $1.6/$2.0 rookie contract
Grade: A
Dolphins acquire franchise QB with the ability to get value back out of current QB Daniel Jones
MIA trades
QB Daniel Jones $1.6/$2.0 rookie contract
QB Mike Glennon $.4/$.4
JAX trades
'22 1st (CIN)
QB Case Keenum $.45
Grade: C
Although Jones had a good season, getting back a 1st rounder helps offset the move for Kyler Murray. It equates to a late 1st rounder, there were no others interested in Jones in the early season- maybe could've gotten a little better pick later...may have sold a little low. After another season Jones emerged as a legit starter- should've held on for better return
MIA trades
DT DJ Jones $.4
AZ trades
'23 4th (AZ)
Grade: B
was able to get draft capital out of a one year DT that I had recently signed from FA. Jones did have a good season but replaced him with FA Austin Johnson NYG who also had a solid year
MIA trades
S Tashaun Gipson CHI $2m/$2m
MIN trades
'22 4th (MIN)
Grade: B
I never liked the $2m contract on the frequently injured, aged safety and decided to go with youth backups to fill in for him. This draft pick helped acquire S Terrell Edmunds PIT whom I felt more confident with and who has the potential to be extended if the Steelers sign him.
MIA trades
'22 2nd (BUF)
TE Cameron Brate $.4
SEA trades
TE Austin Hooper CLE $8m
Grade: F
Hooper never lived up to his potential with Baker, and MIA sacrificed a 2nd in the debacle.
MIA trades
DE Dean Lowry GB $3m/$3m/$3m
CAR trades
'22 2nd (CAR)
Grade: B+
Lowry was not a starter for MIA and even though the grade is high on the trade, MIA may have squandered it in the Tyler Lockett trade that follows.
MIA trades
'22 1st (CIN)
'22 2nd (CAR)
KJ Hamler WR DEN $1/$1.6/$2m
AZ trades
WR Tyler Lockett SEA extension eligible
Grade: C
MIA bet on an aging receiver on a bad offense. There are moments of the Lockett that we know and love but they are few and far between. However at the time the deal was made the starting WR's were Paris Campbell and Deonte Harris.
MIA trades
'22 4th (MIN)
'22 4th (NYG)
BAL trades
S Terrell Edmunds PIT $1.75m
Grade: B-
Edmunds helped solidify the position for MIA, if the Steelers resign him to a reasonable contract this grade could improve, otherwise have to wait and see who is drafted with those picks to make a true determination.
MIA trades
DE Chauncey Golston DAL rookie scale
DET trades
'22 3rd (DET)
S Tyree Gillespie LVR rookie scale
Grade: A
Golston was drafted with the 4.21 pick of current season so to get a 3rd out of him was a victory and Gillespie resulted in the acquisition of LB Nwoso at the trade deadline.
MIA trades
K Matt Ammendola NYJ $.4/.4/.4
LAC trades
'22 4th (LAC)
Grade: B
Ammendola ended up getting cut so the grade should be higher, but MIA was too stubborn to sign Colt McCoy so had to give it back to LAC once Murray was injured.
MIA trades
'22 3rd (DET)
WFT trades
TE Rob Gronkowski TBB $1.25m
Grade: A
Even though Gronk is a rental, he has been a scoring machine for a 3rd rounder that was acquired in the Golston deal
MIA trades
'22 4th (LAC)
LAC trades
QB Colt McCoy AZ $.4m
Grade C-
This was a waste of a pick for insurance that could have been acquired via FA for months
MIA trades
Melvin Gordon III $6m/$6m
NOS trades
Fred Warner LB SF $1.75m with contract option year of $2.5m for '22
'22 2nd (NOS)
Grade: A
MIA was able to clear the salary of MGIII, add an All-Pro LB and a 2nd rounder. MGIII is a productive RB but shares too much of the load with Williams
MIA trades
'23 1st (MIA)
NEP trades
RB Kareem Hunt CLE $0m
Grade: F- his addition was needed to help make a run at the title, but got hurt in the 1st Quarter of the first game with his new team and didn’t play again. Totaled 2 points in the deal. Lesson learned
MIA trades
S Tyree Gillespie LVR rookie scale
GB trades
LB Uchenna Nwoso LAC $1.75
Grade: B+
Uchenna has the potential to be resigned by the Chargers and in his first week with MIA scored 20 points to help clinch the AFC East crown vs NYJ. This deal provides great depth at low cost for the LB position.
MIA trades
QB Cam Newton CAR $1.1/$1.1
TE James O'Shaughnessey JAX $.4/$.4
JAX trades
WR Jakobi Meyers $1.0/$1.25 scale
Grade: B+
In light of the Deonte Harris 3 game suspension gives MIA a little depth at WR and has the ability to produce in '22 as well. MIA was going to cut Newton for the cap space savings on '22 and with Gronk and Hooper- O'Shaughnessey was expendable.
MIA Trades
'22 2nd (MIA)/'22 3rd (MIA)
